Niches (Camp Duties)
Everybody at Outdoor School pitches in everyday to help keep the camp looking good, and to keep things running smoothly and efficiently.
Accordingly, each cabin of students is assigned a different duty, or “niche,” each day.
Niches are led by Outdoor School staff and counselors, and are tasks that are designed to be quick and easy, when everybody does their part.
Niches at Outdoor School include being part of a color guard for a flag ceremony, setting the tables in the dining hall before a meal, sweeping the floors of the main lodge, tidying up the bathrooms, and presenting a weather report at campfire.
By participating in assigned niches, students not only help the camp run efficiently, they also learn how their actions contribute to the community as a whole.
